In the midst of increasing precautions to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the WSO made the decision to postpone the remainder of concerts and community outreach programs this concert season. While this is a hard decision, it is in the best interest of our patrons and the community at large to ensure their safety and well-being.
All educational programs featuring Guerrilla Fanfare, including six elementary school visits, the student concert and After-Work Party at Gruner Brothers, will be postponed until their visit is deemed safe by the Natrona County School District. We hope to hold this important children’s program this school year, but if not we will rescheduled for next Fall.
We are also postponing our April 18th Suffragette Symphony to our 20/21 concert season. This concert is special to the WSO, because it commemorates a pivotal moment in Wyoming and US history, and we intend to honor this occasion with the debut of Stephanie Ann Boyd’s orchestral work. If you already have tickets to the April 18th concert, they will be honored and carried over to the new date next season.
The WSO will announce the dates for our upcoming 71st concert season (including the Suffragette Symphony) this June! The season will include five Masterwork concerts, the Suffragette Symphony, and a Pops in the Park concert. We will make up for the shortened season brought on by COVID-19 with a spectacular season of music. Our Pops in the Park concert is scheduled for Saturday, August 29th, and we are looking forward to a true community-wide celebration at the end of this difficult time.
Our office is currently closed to the public for the safety of our staff, but our phone lines are open if you have any questions, (307) 266-1478. While we wish we could have finished this season as planned, we will come back next season with the quality of music, guests, and events our patrons have come to expect. Until then, stay safe, and we cannot wait to see you in the concert hall next season.
